Tips for Sports Betting

Author: Peter Portero

The following are some tips that can help you to earn big payouts from your sports bets online. Before placing a bet, collect as much information as possible. The best way to win as many bets as possible is to prepare in advance. Gain as much knowledge as you can of the sport you are betting on. Always look for updates on personnel changes, coaching changes, suspensions, injuries, weather, returning starts, line moves and other important factors related to the sport you are betting on.

Never look to past trends for your future bets. In sports what happens in the past rarely starts a trend that continues into the future. Therefore, dont look to past games for tips on the current games.

Never be afraid to bet on the underdog. Just because a team seems to have the lowest odds, these teams can often have the best value on a point spread.

By betting on the big cards, you gain benefits because the bookmaker is then forced to make a line. This will allow you to select the advantage. The best value often comes from small schools since the lines are less researched for these teams because of the lack of information.

Always bet when you have the edge. In the end, this will give you a large sum of profits.

The best information you can have is starting lineups, player injuries and the current weather situations where the game is being played.

Teasers and parlays are one way of throwing away juice on an unnecessary bet. Much of these wagers win anyways. Always watch line moves, but dont necessarily make a bet because of a line move. Before making a bet, look into what caused the line move first.

The one case where researching past games can help is when you find out which teams are most likely to be motivated by a loss. Then this way you know which team is most likely to win after they loose a game, giving you an advantage over others.
