Business and Standard Travel Insurance Policies

Author: Michael Bens

You may wonder why Travel Insurance Companies alter the Business and Standard packages. The Business trips alter dramatically from trips taking for pleasure. The Travel Insurance then is customized to present protection to travelers of all walks, but the policies consider risk first and situation later.

Business travelers often carry equipments that are needed to complete a job. The travelers may carry additional luggage, printers, laptops, cell phones, palmtops, and other types of devices that fall under the risk category. The company intending to cover the traveler will consider theft, loss, and damage related to accidents when considering the customers needs. Thus, if the equipment carried belongs to the employer, then the customer is responsible for the devices, and if loss occurs, damage or theft, then who will pay for the goods?

As you can see, there are many factors to consider when it comes to business travel. The company will also consider the time of travel, risks involved in the areas visited during travel, and so forth. Therefore, business personnel that travel frequently should first ask their employer what coverage is offered to them for their time traveling before considering additional Travel Insurance coverage. Knowing what you have before you pay extra costs is essential, since businesses that hire-in employees to travel often will provide a measure of coverage to their employees.

The Business Travel Policies considers the rate of risk over anything else, and will often increase the Premiums on the policies to compensate in the event you should file a claim. The policies may also stipulate that you only house in hotels accommodated by your company. If you stay at a different hotel then the policy may be invalid.

If the employer travels with other employees then the Travel Insurance companies may offer Joint Insurance Plans so that the travelers can save money. Joint Policies offer the same level of coverage for each traveler; however, the agencies may decide their own definition of joint. For the most part, many Travel Insurance companies are impressionable; therefore, look around to find the best deals.

Filing Claims

If you have taking out Travel Insurance Coverage and the plan is active you will need to review your booklet supplied with the insurance package at the onset, to learn what is required to fill out the claims. Most Travel Insurance Companies require that the policyholder make immediate contact with the company if a claim is required. The booklet will provide important information, such as policy numbers, which is essential to include in claims. Therefore, if you are traveling it is important that you keep your booklet with you at all times. It is also important to follow the instructions outlined in the booklet to the letter to receive disbursements.

Many Agencies offering Travel Insurance have a 24-hour International Claim Line offered to travelers in the event emergencies crop up and immediate coverage is needed. The agencies designed the hotlines to help those that need immediate treatment, helping them to get cash fast. If the emergency is not fatal, then you should contact your travel company before agreeing to treatment. You will need proof of condition, plus a basic overview of the costs for treatment. Therefore, you will need to keep any information that is giving to you by the physician to receive disbursement. In addition, never send the original receipts when requesting disbursement, unless it is stipulated in the booklets provided by the Travel Insurance Agency.

Otherwise, send only copies of the receipts. You may also want to learn more about Taxes, since the co-payments may be a source of returns. Prescriptions are also returnable on taxes in some areas.

Note; THE co-payments are non-refundable costs paid by you before a claim is filed. The Claim-Free Record may offer additional information to help you save costs.

Finally, Standard Insurance for Travel is for those that are not frequently traveling for business and carrying equipment that could cost a fortune.
