The Drive to Forever

Author: Philip Nicosia

Its the most important ride youll ever take: your journey from your house, to your wedding ceremony, where the rest of your life awaits.

So dont think of your wedding car as a mere vehicle that gets you from two points (in that case, you might as well take a cab). Its as important element of your wedding, and in some ways, one of the most poignant. Here you will spend the last few minutes as a shy and excited bride-to-be, and here you will spend the first few minutes together as a happy and hopeful couple.

The first thing you need to consider when choosing a wedding car is that it is well maintained and in good running condition. You don want it to stall in the middle of the road, do you? Nor would you live down the embarrassment of a car that rattles its way up to the church. So always ask your wedding car supplier how old the car is and when was the last time it was repainted or checked for any broken parts. Ask to see the car before you sign the wedding car rental form.

Then check the interiors. Is it spacious? Is there enough legroom? Remember youll be wearing a very delicate, and possibly very voluminous dress (especially if its got a lot of taffeta, organza and lace!) Youll want to be able to sit down without feeling constricted, and that theres no danger of your dress getting wrinkled when your husband sits next to you.

Also look if the height of the car makes it possible to alight without any difficulty. Again, youll be wearing a dress and heels, and all eyes will be on you when you get down. You dont want to trip, or look very uncomfortable trying to stand up from very low seats. You want to be poised and elegant, remember? Especially since cameras will be documenting every move!

And then theres the looks. You can get a very modern model, something as sleek as a BMW, or you can opt for a vintage car. It all depends on the theme of your wedding, and of course, your budget. Most wedding car suppliers have several models so you dont have to feel constricted in your choices. And if they dont have what you want, you can always shop for another supplier!

Most wedding cars are white. Its traditionafter all, white is the color of weddingsbut that shouldnt stop you from exploring other options. However, it is generally considered bad luck to be in a black car, as it is associated with death. Dont forget to affix the bouquet, and the traditional shoes, and youre ready to go!
