Hang Up Your Hair for Static Control

Author: Terry Price

Did you know that there are differences in the way you care for your hair depending upon the season we are in? Have you ever noticed that your hair starts to behave differently when the cold weather hits? Hair tends to dry out and is hard to manage especially during the winter months, but there are a few things you can do to protect it. Try to not wash your hair too often during the winter months, and using a dry-hair shampoo will be good for it. Static electricity is also a problem during the winter, so run a metal hanger over to stop it in its tracks. If you are dealing with thinning hair or applying some other type of hair loss remedy, it may be difficult to not shampoo too often.

Here is a recipe for a good conditioner that you can use in the winter to replace store-bought conditioners. Take one-half cup of pure maple syrup, a hotel shower cap and a towel wrap for 30 minutes. If you have to buy a conditioner, trying purchasing your shampoos and conditioners from a salon as they carry a much better quality product. Sometimes, preventing hair loss in the winter is more difficult as it seems to occur more during the winter months.

When your hair gets very dry, you can use a hair treatment or a hair reconstructor to add volume to your hair. It is a good idea to use conditioning heat-activated hair spray and to leave conditioners on as long as possible. A deep-moisturizing conditioner should be used weekly, and remember to not go outside with wet hair as this may freeze your hair and cause breaking. Remember to always wear a hat, and especially in wintertime. Hair regrowth is sometimes difficult in the winter months, but is easier in the warmer summer months.
