Fancy A Golfing Holiday? Here?s My Top 5 Destinations

Author: Nick Carter

Are you in the mood for a golfing holiday? If so, let me tempt you with my top 5 favourite places to play a few rounds.

Costa Brava
Costa Brava is a barely known location for most of the inexperienced golf players. However, lately more and more professionals gather to this unique place for conventions and matches. Tranquility, peace and beautiful countryside are what Baix and Alt Emporda can offer to the traveler. This is also, a place where rich Spanish folks retreat for holidays and weekends. It offers nine excellent golf courses both for the beginners and the professionals. More and more people speak of Costa Brava as one of the best places to golf in Europe.

Hawaii
Most people think of Hawaii as a place where you can bask in the sun light and where the surfers feel like home. But, on four islands there are some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. Their cliff tops, lava fields, bright yellow sand and gorgeous fairways make the picture of an unforgettable golfing holyday. Each island has its own personality. For instance, when looking for sightseeing and mountaineering, the main islands Hawaii and Kauai with their amazing landscapes is exactly the spot. If youre interested in resort actions, then the place for you is Maui, whereas Lanai offers peace and relaxation. Overall, the Hawaiian Islands are the place for an unforgettable golf experience.

Kwazulu-Natal South Africa
This is the perfect place for a lot of interesting things, such as safaris, wine tasting, Big game, and of course, golfing. Its history with golfing goes back to when South Africa was a British colony. Placed just by the Atlantic Ocean, Kwazulu-Natal hosts the biggest and oldest natural game reserves. The holiday resorts are modern and the courses are impeccable. These being said, whether you are a golf player or not, this can be a holiday for a lifetime.

Ailsa Course Scotland, UK
Scotland is the home of not less than seven golf courses where The Open was held. From 1860 to 1893, Scotland was the only place where it would be held. From 1894 the Sandwich course in England was accepted in the tournament. One of the most scenic golfing places in the world is the Ailsa Course in Turnberry. It hosted the Open for three times already, and its very likely to host it again in the near future. The duel in the sun, disputed between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson, was one of the best final rounds in golfs history.

Pine Valley U.S.A.
Many people look at this course as the finest in the world. Almost all of its holes are considered the best in the game, as well as the three shutters and the fairway. It was founded on 1912, when George Crump, bought the property as a wasteland. It had only yellow sand dunes. One of the architects who saw the property said it would be an excellent course, only if grass would grow on it. And it did, becoming a Mecca for golf players.

Those are my personal favourites. Check them out and let me know what you think!
